History
As history tells Chinese Martial Arts have influenced martial arts throughout Asia and the world more than any other. Warriors from China have always been known to be among the best to step on earthly soil. The Mountain Way system offers you access to this history in that we teach Classical Chinese Martial Art/Kung Fu as opposed to Contemporary Wu Shu. This means you are learning the art as it has been taught for many thousands of years.
The System
Depending on your level of experience you may have heard or learned that what makes a practitioner a true warrior is not just based on ones training in mortal combat but it is the adjunct practices that raise the warrior from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
The Shan Tao system as taught at Dragon Arts is reflective of the classical training of Warrior Sages. Our Founder, Cornell T Garrett, invested a full time schedule of 14 hour days for 12.5 years of his life to research the areas of Classical Chinese Martial Arts, Traditional Chinese Health Principles and Techniques, Preventive Nutrition, Consciousness Studies, and Meditative Introspective Techniques, to create Shan Tao. What Mr. Garrett did was not only develop skill through the traditional way of acquiring knowledge but, he took it one step further and put the essence of these systems into a format that is applicable for western lifestyles. Students that practice Shan Tao get real results and in a relatively short period of time because, Mr. Garrett has done the translating of these foreign concepts for you.
The result of Mr. Garrett’s research has lead to a learning format that embodies complete transmission of knowledge via the Four Phase Path of the
Warrior,
Scholar,
Healer, and
Sage. When these four areas of emphasis are combined in balance, the synergy allows you as the student to experience the power our predecessors acquired. This success allowed them to become the great warriors that came to be known as the “fist of legends”.
